Message substrate (sub straight... my english failed me) its still a chemically bonded surface. Nothing I've stated has any "engineering" advice involved. Many industries that apply coatings refer to the base material as a substrate so on and so forth. To each their own I suppose.

But here are a few definitions since I believe you don't fully understand what a substrate is...


any solid surface or substance (e.g., rock, sand)

The surface to which a coat of paint is applied

A substrate is a hard underlying layer or surface

The parent or base material to which the coating is applied.
